Americans "Flying" Flag on Moon

cernanflag

This picture and other filmed footage of  the American flag on the moon seems to show it fluttering.  How is this possible if there's no atmosphere or wind on the moon?

This is one of the most common questions about the Apollo landings and is often used as evidence of a hoax.  Fortunately there is nothing peculiar about what we can see here at all.  Not if we remember this is happening on the moon.

  • Firstly the flag had a horizontal bar attached to it at the top.  This was done so that the flag would stand out from the flagpole.  NASA appreciated that there would be no wind on the moon, so any normal flag would just hang limply and unattractively down the pole.   To make things look better they added a bar that stood out at 90 degrees from the pole.  The flag was really hanging from this, rather than from the pole.  The bar was also not quite the full width of the flag, so that it was slightly furled to give a 'wave look' to it.

  • The moon's surface, once you get past the thin layer of dust, is very hard.  So getting the flagpole to stick in was a tough job.  The footage shows the astronaut twisting the pole back and forth in order to try and get it further into the ground.    This movement made the attached bar and flag flutter.

  • The flagpole itself was light aluminium that is quite springy.  Even once the astronaut let go the pole would continue to vibrate.  This in turn would shake the bar and flap the flag.  Without any air to dampen this it would continue to do so for longer than you might expect.

Raising of the American flag also revealed several faults. There is no atmosphere on the Moon, it consequently means that there can be no wind. As it was said, a flagpole had a horizontal slat on the top so that it could be possible to unfurl the flag wide. It looked rather strange that a corner of the flag fluttered and one of the astronauts even had to pull it down. Probably, some stupid worker in a film pavilion, where the documentary was shot, opened the door and let the wind inside. In a word, there were lots of strange things connected with the Mood landing expedition that produced such a sensation all over the world.

Future life of the astronauts was also a mystery. Within a year since the sensational expedition, 11 people connected with the Apollo program died. 7 people died in car accidents and 3 burnt down in test capsules although they were high-class pilots. Is it possible that the people were liquidated because they wouldn't keep the secret about the fake Moon expedition?

Yes i beleive that it was the biggest hollywood hit ever made, and probably the most expensive. The USA won a psycological war over USSR by doing so,and gained a lot of popularity and respect around the world. But most people were so easily fooled,is a rather strange thing.
It may be rationalised the hypnotic effect of media,as media can make us to beleive any lie.

Was the moon landing filmed in a studio in Area 51? Were the actors slowly getting hot and someone had the great idea to cool them down with a little air-conditioning? Or did someone forget to close some doors so that the hot desert wind was making its way into the studio? Why wasn’t there any dust dispersed? Why does the flag move, but the much lighter dust stays on the ground?
NASA engineers were pretty much aware of the fact that a normal flag would lop in the vacuum. So a cross-beam was attached at the tip at an 90° angle. So the flag was not only hanging from its pole, but also from the cross-beam. This cross-beam was shorter than the pole, which led to the fabric of the flag being gathered, giving the impression of a waving flag.
The foot of the pole was driven into the ground with a hammer, subsequently the flag was attached. The movements of the Astronaut, when he was setting up the construction, were, of course, passed on to the flag. After the positioning of the flag, the movements were gradually wearing off and it remained in the position finally reached.
